Be Prepared!

It was a sunny Memorial Day weekend when Piper and her two feline companions, Oscar and Ursula, snuck out into the backyard, unbeknownst to their family, to explore the outside world around their New Hampshire home.  Her family had begun work on a new deck, an irresistible curiosity that demanded some attention!

However, the situation turned dire when the stunning white Maine Coon cat lost her footing while perusing the new woodwork.  In classic feline fashion, she kept the incident to herself—her family had no idea she was injured as they ushered her inside. It wasn’t until later that day, when they were dolling out the usual evening treats that it became apparent something was seriously wrong.

When Piper finally appeared, her lovely white fur was coated red.

You can only imagine the ensuing panic.  Through hectic long-weekend traffic, Piper’s family rushed her to the only local animal hospital open during the holiday.  It appeared that during the fall, she had caught her leg on a protruding nail, causing a deep wound from the end of her foot to her groin.

Piper received a total of 14 stitches plus antibiotics to defend against infection—all focus was on comforting Piper through treatment, while her Best Friends Pet Insurance Plan provided comfort to her family which in the end, covered Piper’s treatment costs.

You see, only a month prior to the fall, her family enrolled all three cats in their own Best Friends Pet Insurance Plans.  They thought of it as an early precaution against serious future illnesses as their cats got older, but they quickly realized that illnesses and accidents can happen at any time, unexpectedly, and Best Friends Pet Insurance is about mitigating all those risks now and in the future.

By giving Piper the protection of a Best Friends Pet Insurance Plan, her family was able to focus on her treatment and well being, with no hesitation over cost.  It didn’t matter that they weren’t able to see their usual veterinarian, or that Piper, at 10 years old, might have been considered a “senior” pet and ineligible for coverage with another provider.  The Best Friends Pet Insurance Program was designed with the best interest of your pets in mind.

All patched up, Piper was able to return home with her family to rest and heal—not to mention enjoy a few extra treats of course!

And now?  Piper is back to her usual self, lounging on the kitchen counter, napping with her feline friends, and enjoying the simple pleasures of a happy, healthy cat & Best Friend for Life!
